I would be lying if I didn’t say I almost buckled in embarrassment & regret when I opened up my Substack dashboard not once, but twice, to two weeks of my publications sitting in my drafts. Unfortunately, I’ve had my hands in too many baskets lately, and it showed by totally missing the mark on getting those newsletters out the door. It’s safe to say that won’t be happening again, and I’ll be sure to triple-check my schedule dates for posts. A true “face-palm” moment from my week.

While yes, my body dips into shame as I write this, I want to be real with y’all. I want it to be known that I’m a real human being who messes up sometimes. I certainly don’t have all the answers, and I goof up just like the rest of us. The internet has a funny way of holding us to this unrealistic expectation, and while it might be easy to get mad at myself — I’m instead choosing compassion and saying, “Wow, I’m glad you didn’t let this totally derail you”.

If anything, let my moment of “oh shit” remind you that you can recover from difficult & embarassing moments that pop up, too. Lean into laughing through it and finding a tiny glimmer of hope.

A tiny win, though, is that I finished rebranding my website! Check it out here, and let me know what you think! As always, I was the one doing the coding, designing, and tedious transfers. You can find me on all social platforms as The Cosmic Craft!

Last week: July 4 Venus in Gemini

Like I said in this video, Venus in Gemini is the perfect time to get creative, like really pushing your own boundaries. I’m talking workshopping, rebranding, and restructuring. It’ll ingress again at the end of the month, so be intentional about what you curate in July, so you can witness the definition of the energy between now and the end of the month.

You have the innate ability to work through some bloackages that you’ve been holding onto, subconscious or not. Do something with that energy and transmute it into your style, branding, or art. Twist and turn on different ways to express yourself creatively. Try new ways of self-expression, but just make sure it’s nothing permanent. Think more along the lines of experimentation and doing things for the sake of the plot. If you have a safe container to workshop different ideas and musings, now is the time to yap with those people and get to the nitty gritty, speak into existence that transformation and expansion that you’ve been waiting to claim.

July 10 | Finding stability through the waves

Full Moon in Capricorn

Full moons can be a bit intense, especially in Earth signs like Capricorn. It’s better to stay low-key today and not do anything that might lead to embarrassment or push you beyond your emotional means. The water-Sun and Earth-based-Moon tells me that it’ll be a doozy. Be prepared to not feel seen, heard, or like your opinion is of value. Not that any of that is true, and by all means, lean into knowing that it’s untrue throughout the whole day. But it helps to be aware that these untrue thoughts might be ruminating around.

Take a break from creative projects, romantic gestures, and difficult conversations if you can. Today isn’t the day to push yourself, and perhaps react emotionally when you otherwise wouldn’t. That feeling of emotional hijacking isn’t fun to experience or witness, so if you run into it in any capacity, try to have grace for yourself or others if necessary. Protecting your peace is important for this transit, since the embarrassment, self-doubt, or weariness can linger on past this lunation. Veiling or head covering is a good idea if you can’t help but be in public, or utilize something like protective oils or your crystals.

🧢 Veil of quiet strength: Anoint your temples with lavender oil or your oil of choice, then wrap your head with a scarf or veil (remember you can use a hat in a pinch!). As you do, speak aloud: “I protect my thoughts, I protect my peace.” This acts as an energetic boundary to help you move through the day with calm confidence.

Saturn stations retrograde in Aries

Saturn will be slowly, ever so slowly, making its way back into Pisces, which ingresses on September 1st. Those of you having your natal Saturn in Aries or Pisces, along with any prominent placements in those houses, will feel this transit the most.

Saturn shifts can oftentimes be seen among the collective in a wide array of hues. This can look like a resurfacing of woes that you thought were long gone, ancestral trauma, or perhaps even wounds that you thought you worked through or were recently resolved. If anything intense pops up, it’s important to push past the initial feelings to self-isolate and rely on your community. Above all else, know that there are folks around you waiting and wanting to care. If you don’t feel like you have that circle around you, go out and find it. Especially while Saturn is in Pisces, engaging in social work, food kitchens, or volunteer work can feel like you’re actually making a difference instead of stagnant reclusion.

Saturn’s backward movement into Aries is something we’ve experienced before, and it serves as a unique moment to make things right. If there’s something you wish you said, did, or handled differently — you might get the time to course-correct during its retrograde. Make luck happen where you see fit, and be on the lookout for these types of opportunities.

🫙 Remember to ground: Fill a small jar with black salt, rosemary, and a personal item that reminds you of your resilience. Seal it while saying, “I honor the lessons of the past and welcome strength for the road ahead.” Keep it on your altar or carry it during the retrograde for grounding and clarity. You can also use a satchet for easy travel in pockets or purses.

🔮Tool of the week

Water Witching Omemee | Herb Lang Well Drilling Ltd.

A tool new to me, dowsing rods

Dowsing rods are traditional tools used to locate hidden energies, water sources, lost items, or spiritual hotspots. Typically made of metal and held in each hand, these rods are said to move in response to subtle energies, whether from underground streams, mineral deposits, or energetic imprints in the land. In modern magical practice, dowsing rods are often used to detect energy shifts or communicate with spirits.

While I’ve heard of dowsing rods, both in Appalachia folklore and in the spiritual community, I’ve never tried them for myself until recently. I’m an avid pendulum user, and you can use dowsing rods in a similar way. While pendulums often respond through circular or directional swings, dowsing rods move by crossing, opening, or shifting in your hands. Both tools rely on the subtle movements of the body and the energetic field around us, offering a physical response to spiritual or subconscious questions.

I’m excited to practice more with this modality and report back. If you didn’t know, we live close to a ley line and have a very active household. Plus, in a more traditional sense of utilization, I’d also like to know where the mystery septic system is on our property (a whole different conversation that I won’t bore you with on the details.)

Zucchini & tomatoes getting ready to be freeze dried!

Lughnasadh, also called Lammas, is approaching in early August. It marks the first of the harvest festivals and the turning of the Wheel toward autumn. It’s a sacred pause—an honoring of what’s ripening, both in the fields and within us. The harvests are abundant, the sun still strong, but the shift is undeniable: something is beginning to wane. Lammas invites us to celebrate the work we’ve done and offer gratitude to the land and our spirits for carrying us here.

The approaching sabbat of Lammas has me reflecting on the second year of our home garden. It's been a successful season so far, and we're proud of how much we continue to learn with each passing year. The beginning of the season was challenging, but now we’re at a point where we’re harvesting cucumbers and lettuce daily, with tomatoes coming in soon. This was also my first year growing medicinal herbs. I quickly learned where they don’t like to grow, which helped me discover a few perfect spots around the property where they truly thrive.

We got the freeze dryer repaired, and it’s not up and running again. We made zuchini flour and tomato powder (a household favorite throughout the year). Next week, I’ll be making my famous oxymel, which I’m still conjuring up a name for. It features herbs like kava kava, wild lettuce, sustainablly grown CBD flower, and other nervines + nutritives. We learn something every year, and it’s been such a beautiful process to be in tune with nature in a way of gardening, planting, and preserving.
