Last week I talked about retrogrades, and how to use their chaos as an opportunity to refocus, embrace change, and observe your surroundings. Pay attention to any patterns or cycles showing themselves, because it’s not a coincidence that they’re popping up. Dealing with these karmic sequences is the only way to assimilate their teachings. If you don’t pick up on the pattern, it’ll continue to happen throughout time, and continue to get increasingly uncomfortable. Thankfully, this Mars retrograde is almost over, and we have a new retrograde to focus on (among other impactful transits ahead).

This week’s spell for the Inner Circle offers insight on Imbolc, and the return of light to our days. It’s perfect to pair with the upcoming new moon — making your magick that much more potent.

Jan 27 | Innovation, Future Planning, and Reality Shifting

Mercury enters Aquarius

Don’t get caught up in the hustle, bustle, or mundane chit-chat. Instead, choose to go a little deeper and the introspective route — or engage in quality conversation with folks that you know you can have deep meaningful talks with. Don’t feel like you have to go with the flow and accept invites to public places if you’re not feeling it, and I definitely wouldn’t recommend going to crowded bars or anything of the like. The vibes will be off and there’s a possibility for unneeded tension.

You’ll make better use of your time if you spend time and plan your future. You’re leaning into new ideas right now and you need to trust in the belief that things will work out. It’s time to take your manifestation game to a new level. This is the perfect transit to harness if you’re looking to jump to an entirely new reality and leave the old one behind. It’s scary, yes, but, don’t you crave something new? Embody your deepest desires, and spend the time deeply visualizing what you want your future to look like, and what you’ll need to change to get there.

❃ This is the perfect time to focus on spells that help manifest a new reality or solidify a vision for the future. Work on crafting mental clarity, creative thinking, and breaking free from old thought patterns. Include intention-setting for long-term goals and pathways to achieve them.❃

Jan 28 | Boundaries, Finances, and Community Values

Venus enters its shadow in Pisces

You might not feel this transit as heavily as the current Mars retrograde - yet. You need to have your eyes open to notice the shift. At first, it’ll be subtle, but these themes will build throughout Venus’ progression backward in the sky.

See if you feel any boundaries being tested, especially ones that you’ve put in place around finances. Do you have any new opinions on systematic oppression, and how to better aid your community? What about even opening yourself up to something new like investing to aid your future self? Just get curious about sudden new interests, or ones that are finally taking shape, and see how they unfold over the next few weeks.

❃ This is an ideal moment to perform spells that reinforce healthy boundaries, particularly around finances and emotional investments. Consider adding elements of abundance magic to support future stability and growth, or spells to open the heart to deeper compassion and connections within your community. ❃

Jan 29 | Seed Planting, Alignment, and Personal Transformation

New moon in Aquarius

Quite literally the perfect time to sow some of the most important seeds of 2025. Get clear about how you want this coming spring and summer to look so you can energetically harvest your crops in the fall. The thoughts, ideas, and time you’re putting into your projects should be systematic and structured. If you work with this lunation correctly, you can expect major and positive shifts in how others view you. Your relationship with yourself will be more supported, you’ll be able to speak with power, and you’ll almost feel like an entirely new person. One supported by the universe and thrown on a whole new trajectory, one that you meticulously created and moved into existence.

Of course, there will be some hurdles along the way, but the key will be not taking them or heart. If you focus on the wrong things, or let your ego overtake your mind — you’ll only fall into external suffering. This looks like burnout, or emotional overwhelm manifesting as physical ailments. Like I said, be super clear about what you’re looking to align both physically and mentally, and don’t let the bullshit get in the way.

❃ Focus on spellwork that supports personal reinvention, structured plans, and energetic alignment with your long-term aspirations. Prioritize intention-setting that balances mental clarity and emotional resilience for sustained progress. ❃

🔮Tool of the week

Divination tools come in all sizes, shapes, and colors. There’s no way of knowing what will work best for you until you try a different one. And then, try it again. You can’t expect to pick up a tool and have it speak to you immediately.

Before I dive into the first tool I’ll be highlighting next week, we need to go over some housekeeping first.

I love using cards because of the simplicity, but I also enjoy using candles, pendulums, smoke, and tea leaves. Just because something works for me, doesn’t mean it’ll necessarily work for you. Divination tools are meant to be deeply personal, and while I’ll be showing you how I use each tool — please use them the way you’re comfortable. Build a relationship with them, let it be something that gradually changes and evolves. Let your divination practice be uniquely yours.

If you’re looking for ways to connect with a tool. Try getting to know the tool before you ask it to show you something, or before you “need” something from it. Flip through the tarot deck, see what comes up for each of the cards, and write some notes down. Hold a pendulum and just see what happens when you feel a certain way, and what it does when you go through certain emotions.

Above all else, carve out a sacred way to use these tools. It can be as simple as lighting a candle, or going as far out as having a dedicated area of your house. But I think the most important thing is getting into the right mindset and respect. There are ways to give the universe a heads-up to the energy you’d like to access, and that’s something we’ll be going over in future publications.

🌿 Homestead highlight

Imbolc, traditionally celebrated on February 1st or 2nd, marks the halfway point between winter and spring. It's a time to honor the growing light as the days slowly stretch longer and to welcome the first stirrings of new life. This sacred day is often dedicated to Brigid, the Celtic goddess of healing, and poetry, and smithcraft— she’s a powerful figure of inspiration and transformation.

Celebrating this time of year can be simple yet deeply meaningful, you don’t have to overthink it. Think of this day as a time to refresh your space, your mind, and your intentions. You can make this day special by lighting candles to honor the returning light, planting seeds or setting intentions for growth, cooking cozy food for nourishment, cleansing your space energetically and physically, and honoring Brigid with a simple altar of candles, poetry, or offerings that resonate with her energy.

🌕Lunar ritual🌘

The New Moon in Aquarius is the perfect time to get honest with what you want.

No frills.

Just barebones and simplified plans transmuted into action.

This lunation is your chance to sow the seeds of your most important goals for 2025.

• Start by cleansing your space and mind — use smoke, sound, or saltwater to clear away any lingering energy.

• Write down 3-5 clear and structured intentions, focusing on what you want to build and align with this year. Speak them aloud with confidence and let their energy ripple outward. Say them as many times as you’d like, as long as you’re doing so with conviction and power.

• To anchor your intentions, create a sigil or outline a plan that symbolizes your long-term aspirations. Light candles and focus on your transformation as you step into the empowered, aligned version of yourself as you gaze into the flame.

This ritual will help you set the stage for a year of powerful growth and keep you aligned with your vision, even as challenges arise. Come back to the sigil you created when you need to be reminded of everything you set out to create.
