Feb 18 | Saying “yes” to a flow state
Pisces season begins
Pisces season allows us to feel inspired by our dreams, nature, and emotions. If you tap into the transit with the right mindset, the possibilities for following or aligning with your true purpose are within reach. The trick is to not be distracted. Don’t fall into a pattern of people-pleasing or let your boundaries get soft.
You might be looking for the moment where your heart and mind magically align to “show” you what you’ve been waiting for - but that moment won’t come. You need to grip the steering wheel and hold on tight. Try your best to use the imaginative and dreamy nature of Pisces to help craft what you want your future to look like. Get clear about the process, what routines you’ll have, and what your community will look like. Right now is the perfect time to work on refinement.
💧 Water scrying - use a bowl of water under moonlight or candlelight to gaze into the depths of your subconscious. Fix your gaze to a soft and comfortable position to see what messages, thoughts, or images come to your mind’s eye. Walk into your session with the spoken intention to seek clarity on the dreams and goals you wish to manifest. Keep a paper nearby for when your session is complete and write down what revealed itself.

Mars stations direct
The backward motion of Mars in the sky finally comes to a halt. Mars will slowly work its way through its shadow until May 2nd. Be prepared for a lot of assimilation, downloads, and subliminal messages. Like I’ve been saying this whole transit, what houses you have Leo and Cancer in will tell you the flavor of this retrograde.
Utilize this potent energy in the sky to sit in stillness. It’s the perfect moment to get honest with yourself. Are you happy with the direction that your life is moving in? Are you dedicating time to what lights you up? Are you authentic in how you show up in life every day? Don’t shy away from the deep and emotionally rich questions. This transit isn’t about hashing things out with those around you, but sitting with your subconscious and having a moment to listen to the subtle (or not-so-subtle) shifts.
🔥 Fire meditation - Write down limiting beliefs or stagnation points on torn paper, then burn them in a fireproof bowl to release what no longer serves you. Get as detailed as you can with what you’re looking to release. Make sure you journal what you’re looking to release, so you can look back and have a benchmark on what’s changed after this Mars transit.
🔮Tool of the week
Now that we’ve talked extensively about crafting an altar, let’s get into some of the finer details of decor. Something that I see folks fall into all the time is thinking they need to spend money on creating an altar space. Truthfully, that’s the furthest thing from the truth.
Altar spaces don’t need a certain amount of money poured into them to work, and they certainly don’t need to look like the ones that are crafted online. In my experience, the ones you see on Pinterest and the like are crafted for the photo. Like I said last week, what matters most is making the area inviting for you, and spirits alike. Make it yours, and make sure you resonate with it.
The most powerful thing you can put on your altar is items from nature. Crystals are one of my favorite decorations. However, they come at a decent price. Don’t fall into the trap of thinking that you need to biggest and most polished crystals on display. Take your time collecting, and don’t make any impulsive purchases. Some of my most powerful altar items are things like snakeskin, rocks, sticks, and bones I’ve found. Don’t overthink it. If it feels like you should put an item there, go for it.
Get crafty with it and explore places like thrift stores, eBay, and Facebook marketplace. Just don’t forget to cleanse previously owned items. Remember, there’s no rush in creation. Take your time with curation, and I promise you’ll be much happier with the outcome.
🌿 Homestead highlight
Seeding season is upon us! We cleaned out the greenhouse this weekend and got our supplies ready to start building the new raised beds from the supplies we’ve been gathering throughout the year. We start our seeds in damp paper towels in the greenhouse and this method proved to be a wild success last year!
It’s also the first year that we’ll be diving into hydroponics! I’m really excited to utilize this technology to produce some fresh herbs in the greenhouse. Hopefully, this will mitigate some pests that love herbs, and make it a little easier to manage.
We got our seeds from the seed library in town when we first moved here, and we’ll be utilizing them this year again too! Seed libraries are a great way to get local seeds for free! Ours came with our county library card, and even had instructions on when/how/where to plant!
We purchased seeds last year from a popular vendor, but I wouldn’t recommend that shop again. The shipping took forever, and I don’t stand by the company’s mission. This year, Ellyse got many of our seeds from Rare Seeds. Shipping was a breeze, and the reviews were really helpful in helping us decide what to purchase.
Make sure you look up your planting zone if you’re unfamiliar with when to start seeding and sowing. We’re in zone 7A, for reference. We started our seeds on mothers day last year, and it was honestly way too late. By the time our seedlings got sown into the ground, the sun was too hot, which caused some big changes to our plan. Hopefully, starting in the greenhouse this year a little earlier will help us stay on track!
