Astrology forecast 🌠

Dec 21 | Sun in Capricorn

As the winter solstice approaches, we’re met with Capricorn season. You’ll find yourself perhaps being a little bit too hard on yourself, or maybe even a little too rigid with your boundaries. Try looking outside of yourself, and really investigating the energy you’re bringing to the table. Sit with it, and get curious. Is this darker energy even yours? Or can you invite more light in, as the winter sky is doing, and find small moments (even mere seconds) that you’re able to equalize? Feeling the weight of the season, you might even find it beneficial to structure time for enjoyment. Plan for those pockets of joy deliberately. It's in these moments of lightheartedness that you can truly grasp the teachings of this Capricorn transit. The discipline and structure aren't meant to stifle; rather, they offer a framework for growth and self-discovery. Though, it can also be humorous, so don’t forget to look for moments of joy and fun in this transit. Structure time to have fun if you must, that way you can take advantage of what this transit has to teach you. As you navigate Capricorn's terrain, don’t forget the dance between light and dark, seriousness and humor. Embrace the lessons this transit has to offer, and perhaps, just perhaps, find a way to let a bit more light into your soul, echoing the dance of the winter sky.

Dec 23 | Mercury goes back into Sagittarius

Like I said last week, Mercury retrograde is nothing to fret over. You don’t need to change your plans, just really think them through. Avoid huge decisions if possible, or permanent things - like ending a long-term relationship or losing your cool with a client at work. Find out what house Sagittarius is located in your natal chart, and see what themes might be coming into focus this week. For example, if Sagittarius rules your second house, you’ll likely be focused on income, finances, habits, your work life, or your work ethic. This is your time to get creative. Find space to encourage flow. Work on re-evaluating and hashing out stagnant energy to eliminate any blockages that are hindering you. Remember if things feel extra sticky or tough to work though, you’ve sat with these themes before. This isn’t anything new, and shouldn’t cause too much stress. If you’re feeling weighed down, try looking into radical acceptance and see if that might be helpful. Give yourself extra padding. Lean into softness wherever possible, and don’t get caught up on the “what ifs”, even if they’re super tempting (and they will be!) Remember that you are not your thoughts, you’re just a human having a human experience.

Dec 26 | Full Moon in Cancer

What a way to close out the year of 2023. Full Moons are always impactful, but this lunation in the Moon’s home sign of Cancer will be extra potent. You’ll be gifted with an extra dose of introspection. Get curious about your home life. Dig into your family dynamics, romantic relationships, or relationships with your children (or pets, too!) Make sure you’re choosing comfort - especially around this transit. You’ll be tempted to work on your boundaries, and finding the balance of emotion and logic might be a little difficult. Though, this period is a phenomenal time to journal, meditate, and do some shadow work. Odds are, you’ll be met with some sort of boundary that has to do with your inner world. When you come upon this roadblock, try to view it as something temporary. Don’t get too caught up in immediately changing it - just notice it and move on. A Full Moon in Cancer can feel like all of your emotions are bubbling up. This transit can have a way of stirring the depths of our emotions, much like a tidal wave. Take your time to process and tread gently in the realm of decision-making. With Mercury in retrograde, I’d caution against hasty choices and urge you to be mindful of expressing intense emotions or letting "inside thoughts" slip out.

The best holiday side dish

If you need a last-minute holiday dish to bring to your next gathering - you need to steal this recipe! This became a quick household favorite when we tried it a few weeks ago. Honestly, if I had anywhere to attend in the coming days - I’d likely bring this dish as an offering because there’s no way it can go wrong.

12 oz frozen raspberries
1/2 cup orange marmalade
16 oz cranberries
2 green apples (diced)
Sugar optional

Dec 21 | Yule & the Winter Solstice

There’s no right or wrong way to celebrate the Winter Solstice. The winter solstice marks the shortest day and longest night of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. It usually occurs around December 21st, though the exact date can vary slightly each year. In the Southern Hemisphere, the winter solstice occurs around June 21st.

Many customs involve the lighting of candles, bonfires, or a Yule log. This symbolizes the triumph of light over darkness and is seen as a way to encourage the sun's return and the lengthening of daylight. The same goes for why you’ll see dried oranges as ornaments or garlands. The orange slices symbolize the return of light.

People around the world celebrate the winter solstice in various ways. Some participate in cultural or religious ceremonies, while others engage in personal reflections or nature-based activities. For many folks, it marks a time to appreciate the stillness of winter and the promise of returning light.

From an astronomical perspective, the winter solstice is a phenomenon that highlights the Earth's axial tilt and its orbit around the sun. It's a reminder of the dynamic relationship between our planet and the sun, influencing the changing seasons.

What are you doing to mark this time of year in your life? Do you have any rituals or celebrations planned?
